Step 1
One of the best ways to get the most out of your clay bars is to cut it into a smaller portion (about 1/3). The reason you would do this is so the clay bar you are using does not become too dirty to use and if you drop the clay bar you on the ground many times you should throw it away.
Step 2
You then need to mold your first piece around in your hand warming and loosening it up so it becomes softer than its original feel. Once it is soft enough roll into a sphere, then squash it with your thumbs and palm so it is shaped like a round disc.
Step 3
Spray a good amount of clay bar lubricant onto your paint with approximately no more than 2x2 feet in diameter.
Step 4
Slide the detailing clay up and over your cars paint on the lubricated area. Make sure you are using a very small amount of pleasure. If at any time you feel the clay stick, be sure to apply more clay bar lubricant. As you are proceeding with this step you should hear and feel the contaminants being removed from your vehicle. Continue this process on the single area until all contaminants are removed.
Step 5
As the clay becomes too dirty fold it on top of its self with the dirty side on the inside. Then need it back into a disc and continue. Make sure that if you spot any large contaminants on the clay bar that you remove them as they will scratch you cars paint.
Step 6
Once you have finished this area wipe off the lubricant with a microfiber cloth and then proceed with the next area.
Once you have finished with the entire vehicle be sure to continue with the rest of the car detailing process. One of the most important parts after this claying is to use a good quality wax to help protect your car from receiving those contaminates again. You should not that if you leave you car outside in natures elements you will have to repeat this process every so often as the contaminants such as dust, sap, tar and others will bond to your car again.
